Karen Ann Myers exhibits new paintings at SCOOP studios in "A Room of Her Own"

SCOOP Studios is very pleased to present Karen Ann Myers in her solo exhibition, titled “A Room of Her Own”, opening October 7th – 29th. An artist’s reception will be held on Friday, October 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. 

In this new series of paintings, Karen Ann Myers continues to explore what it means to be a young woman in contemporary society. Myers investigates the psychological complexity of women through intimate observations in the bedroom. Her large-scale paintings are inspired by the cult of beauty in contemporary mass media. Intricately painted, decorative interiors are invented, using collage techniques, to overwhelm and titillate the viewer.

Ryan Cronin returns to SCOOP Studios in his third solo show, '3's A Charm'

New Yorker, Ryan Cronin, is the first of SCOOP studios’ artist to have his third solo show, 3‘s A Charm, opening on Friday, September 2nd, from 5 to 8 p.m.

This Labor Day Weekend show that coincides with the “Gallery Row’s” First Fridays on Broad and is free and open to the public. New work from this year includes Cronin’s reaction to a serious life changing event and his ability to express himself with jocularity. He continues to create visually stimulating works of art with Rust Oleum paint capturing iconic images with vibrant colors using broad brushstrokes on handcrafted 4’x4’ panels.

Karin Olah's farewell solo show 'Unwound and Bound' opening at SCOOP

SCOOP studios Contemporary Art Gallery presents the farewell solo show “Unwound and Bound” by Karin Olah with a “Bon Voyage Preview” on Saturday, July 30th, from 5 to 8 p.m. with the artist in attendance and treats by Sugar Bakeshop.

Unwound and Bound is on view through August 27th and includes 20 new original works of art that combines Olah’s two series, floral and abstract. “I am finding connections between winding vines and thread on a spool. I am letting the organic shapes learned from my first series (floral) transform in to abstract studies,” explains Olah. Using fabric, she works in a manner that mimics the flow of paint from a brush. Intricately cut, placed, and pasted textiles are combined with gouache, acrylic, and graphite to create Collage Paintings that are deep in …

"From the Ashes" by Christopher Murphy at Scoop studios

SCOOP studios welcomes back local abstract artist, Christopher Murphy, for his solo show “From the Ashes” on Friday, April 1st, with an artist reception from 5 to 8 p.m. coinciding with Gallery Row’s First Fridays on Broad.

The show “From the Ashes” is a collection of paintings about destruction and renewal. Murphy says, “This concept does not necessarily mean catastrophe, just simply change.” The artist reception is free and open to the public. “From the Ashes” by Christopher Murphy is on view through April, Tuesday - Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by appointment.

In the most recent series of Kenton James’ oil paintings, chaos and the surge of modern American life are captured in layered images. Using multiple exposure composition, each piece literally blends different narratives of people from mundane to alluring moments. Shades of grey, in the predominately black and white paintings of Cinnamonworld, reveal abstract shapes, contrasts and patterns to communicate powerful perspectives uniquely identifiable to 21st century American life.
