This evening from 5 until 7 p.m, The Charleston Beer Exchange will be hosting Brittney Heuerman from Boulder Beer Company for a fun and informative tasting event.

Brittney will be offering up free samples of Mojo Risin' Double IPA from the growler station and A Honey of a Saison from bottles. She'll also be giving away a free Boulder pint glass with every growler fill (any size!) of Mojo Risin' while supplies last!

Come taste some great beer, fill up a growler and get a free glass.

Arrest made in Cannon Park assault case

On Sunday afternoon, Charleston police arrested 43-year-old Kevin Tracy and charged him with second-degree criminal sexual conduct after sexually assaulting a woman in downtown Charleston's Cannon Park.

According to Live 5 News, Tracy was granted a $200,000 surety bond and released from the Charleston County Detention Center.

Located in the heart of the upper King arts corridor, the brand new venue will be transformed into a high end cabaret club featuring the best voices in Charleston. Local performers take the stage in the intimate atmosphere reminiscent of the golden age of cabaret. From Great American Songbook favorites to the best of Broadway old and new, "Under the Spotlight" has it all in one terrific evening of entertainment. Don't miss it!

The show begins at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 6. Admission is $10 in advance or at the door.

Folly, Kiawah, proposed as critical loggerhead habitats

Nearly 740 miles of beaches along the eastern seaboard, including Folly Beach and Kiawah Island, have been proposed to be considered as "critical habitat areas" for the threatened loggerhead sea turtle.

The proposal, submitted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, is currently open for public comment and requests for public hearings until late May.

What this designation could mean for building regulations along the shoreline is still undetermined. 

 

Chef Sarah Simmons' City Grit tour making a stop at Butcher & Bee

Mark your calendars for April 11 as Butcher & Bee will be opening its doors and kitchen to Chef Sarah Simmons for a one-night only engagement.

Recently named one of Food & Wine's "Greatest New Cooks," Sarah has cooked alongside notable chefs like April Bloomfield, Sean Brock, Marc Vetri, and John Currence, and been featured in the New York Times for City Grit, her culinary salon.

For this six-course dinner, Sarah is putting her signature Southern spin on classic Japanese cuisine. The menu, priced at $70 per person, reads as follows:
