Tickets are now on sale for the 34th annual Piccolo Spoleto Festival, the official outreach arm of Spoleto Festival USA.

Piccolo Spoleto opens on Friday, May 25 and runs for 17 days until Sunday, June 10th. The festival offers a variety of arts and cultural programs including theatre, blues, jazz, chamber music, early music, dance, literary, visual arts as well as many admission-free and family-friendly events.

Battery host Reading for second U.S. Open Cup match

The Charleston Battery will host Reading United AC in a second round Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match on Tuesday, May 22 at Blackbaud Stadium.

Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the Battery’s second round U.S. Open Cup match are on sale now for $5 (West Bleacher) and $10 (West Club).

First tropical storm of the season forms off S.C. coast (Updated)

Update May 21: Tropical Storm Alberto continues to churn in the Atlantic, southeast of Savannah — and it's still looking like the early storm will pose little direct risk to the Lowcountry.

Forecasters expect the storm to drift a bit more east (after having traveled south from its prior position closer to Charleston) before turning northeast later today and hopefully cruise off the eastern seaboard without causing much damage or much strengthening.

Two injured during crosstown shooting

Two people were shot during an altercation that took place on Thursday evening at the intersection of Rutledge Avenue and Grove Street.

Two men were seen arguing on the corner and one of the men pulled out a gun, shooting both his intended target and a woman sitting in a passing car.
