Former University of South Carolina baseball player Steven Tolleson has been called up to play in the Major Leagues with the Oakland Athletics.

Tolleson started off the season in Triple-A with the Sacramento River Cats and had a .333 batting average with eight runs scored. He is one of four former Gamecocks to currently be in Major League Baseball along with Adam Everett (Tigers), Brian Roberts (Orioles) and Justin Smoak (Rangers).

The official athletics page for the Gamecocks has more on the exciting promotion.

There's plenty of great Charleston content out there, but it's ever harder to find -- Charleston's TheDigitel is the only place to get linked to the best Charleston content and events.
