Ruptured gas line shuts down several downtown blocks

For 10 hours yesterday, several downtown blocks were closed off and evacuated while SCE&G officials hurriedly fixed a gas line that ruptured underground near Coming and Carolina streets.

The incident started around noon, but was resolved by 10 p.m.
