Today, Charleston Fire Chief Rusty Thomas is leaving firefighting after 32 years of service. The 50-year-old's departure comes after receiving much criticism for the Sofa Super Store fire that led to the deaths of nine firemen, the largest number of firefighters killed on duty since 9/11. More
