Charleston Battery resign veteran forward Stephen Armstrong
The Charleston Battery have agreed to resign veteran forward Stephen Armstrong for the 2010 season.
Armstrong arrived in Charleston on Monday and should be available for the match versus Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC on Saturday night. The Battery staff and squad are excited to have Armstrong back, he's currently fifth on the list for goals scored for the Battery.
“It’s very nice to be able to bring Stevie back for the 2010 season, he is an experienced and exciting player on the pitch and we are looking for him to share his veteran leadership,” said head coach, Mike Anhaeuser. “He is a proven goal-scorer and should help us tremendously in the final third.”

Stephen Armstrong joined Charleston in 2006, in his four years with the Club he’s played ninety-five games scoring twenty-three goals (fifth all-time) and adding eight assists.
A native of Cape Town, South Africa Armstrong, 5-10, 165lbs., 33 yrs., saw limited action in 2009 after arriving injured following the indoor season. Armstrong played just 16 games scoring twice and notching one assist.
Before joining the Battery Armstrong played four years in Major League Soccer with DC United, the Kansas City Wizards and the Columbus Crew. Prior to turning pro Armstrong was a four-year starter at Butler University.
