Tape Waves is Kim and Jarod Weldin, a dream pop duo from Charleston, South Carolina. Since starting to play music together in 2013, the pair has released two 7” records on independent European labels, reaching listeners all over the world. With shimmery guitars and hushed vocals, their songs evoke images of hazy summer days and young love. Their sun-drenched pop songs have garnered attention from numerous media outlets including NYLON, BlackBook and Impose. Their debut full-length record, titled “Let You Go” expands on the summery sound that developed on their previous releases.
“There are many bands who can capture the essence of love, but few can make it sound as pure as Tape Waves.” - IMPOSE
“Songs like” Stay All Night” fuse raw, whispered pining for lost love with infectious surf-esque, reverb-infused guitar. The combination is a hazy, beachside daydream. Let’s be real, getting friend-zoned never sounded so good.” - NYLON
Camela Guevara is a studio artist at Redux Contemporary Art, Co-Founder of Charleston Supported Art and a seamstress by trade. She enjoys adding tiny beads to fabric, sewing thoughtful garments, and teaching embroidery. www.camelaguevara.com
