The Post and Courier's Bo Peterson checked out the 15th annual Dunleavy's Pub Polar Bear Plunge on Sullivan's Island on January 1. The event drew some 2,000 folks.
All across the world on January 1, crazy people run into the frigid water as a way to … well … have fun. The first polar bear club was started in 1904 on Coney Island as a supposed way to benefit one’s health.
There's also a story, but I know you really just want to see the video and pictures.
There was also a Polar Bear Swim on Folly Beach.
Update January 2, 6:30 p.m.: And The Charleston City Paper has also added a video from the Folly Beach dip, nice. Go check it out.
Update January 11: I've found some more, great pictures of the Sullivan's Island chilling. Go get 'em.
