Update April 24: The must-see blockbuster Broadway musical 'Wicked' just finished the first week of its two-week premiere engagement at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center and has shattered all previous box office records.
First week ticket sales exceeded $1.1 million and more than 14,000 patrons came through the doors to see the show.
The second and final week of Wicked starts Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and only eight performances are left through Sunday, April 29th. Tickets are still available for most performances at the Coliseum Advance Ticket Window, Ticketmaster.com, charge by phone at (800) 745-3000 and all Ticketmaster outlets (including select Publix stores).
First reporting: Tickets to "Wicked," the most anticipated musical production of the 2011 - 2012 Best of Broadway season are on sale now!
Performances will be held nightly from April 18 - 29 at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center.
Here's a bit about the play for those who are unfamiliar:
Based on the Gregory Maguire novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, this award-winning musical explores the concept that the Wicked Witch of the West, here known as Elphaba, is a misunderstood, victimized person whose behavior is merely a reaction against the charlatan Wizard's corrupt government. It also displays her relationship with the beautiful and ambitious Galinda Upland, who ultimately becomes Glinda the Good Witch of the North.
