Women’s Coastal Skills Clinic
A Weekend workshop designed to teach
skills to expand women’s knowledge of the Low Country Outdoors! April 8th through April 10th
at Hunting Island State Park.
Come join us for a weekend of
adventure and fun! Please bring your friends, make it an all girls weekend!
We will cook a delicious authentic
Low Country Frogmore stew for dinner Friday night and Saturday’s dinner will be
an old-fashioned Oyster Roast from our harvest of oysters after our shellfish
We will have the unique opportunity
to watch the sunrise from atop the lighthouse! A special occasion once reserved
for lighthouse keepers of old.
The weekend begins on the afternoon
of Friday, April 8th with a Naturalist guided “Secrets of the Salt
Marsh” tour. This will be followed
by a meet and greet activity at the Nature Center and the preparation of the
Low Country Boil. There are 11 programs planned for the weekend including a
History of the Lighthouse, Birding 101, Cast Netting, Salt Marsh Kayaking, and
Of course, you can’t miss the talk on
the beach learning about “the Secret lives of sea shells” before doing some
beachcombing in search of your own sea treasures.
Sunday we will wrap things up learning
some pier fishing and crabbing basics, as well as learning how to cook and eat
the blue crabs that we may catch.
Sleeping accommodations are your
responsibility, though there are plenty of wonderful places to stay in nearby
Beaufort. Get the full outdoor experience and make reservations to bring your

lunch at one of the local restaurants Saturday.

limited to 30 participants and designed for the women age 16 and older. Sorry,
but we cannot accept registration from organized groups.
Fees are $189 per person
Remember to bring
a flashlight, comfortable walking shoes, boots and clothes that can get wet and
muddy, bug spray, and sunscreen. Binoculars will be available for use for
birding, but feel free to bring your own!
