Janet Garrity's new book, Goin' Down the River has sparked an interest in a Lowcountry lifestyle that is almost as old as Beaufort.
To complement the increased interest, the Beaufort History Museum at City Hall is opening a new exhibition on Thursday, December 13, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Garrity's book features her images that are complement by Dennis Cannady's model of a fish camp.
According to Dr. Larry Rowland, Professor Emeritus, USCB, and a local son of the rivers as well, fish camps date back to the 1700s. And sons and sons of sons of those first keepers of the salt water keys are shown in the environment they love best in Garrity's images.
Music by the the Bull Grapes (Kirk Dempsey & Adam Grenade).
Catered by Wild Hawgs BBQ, Lady's Island Oyster Company, and Sweet Vivi's Cookies.
