S.C. senator says ACC is wrong over Confederate flag
Charleston rep and Senate President Pro Tempore Glenn McConnell has written a piece critical of the ACC after they agreed with the NAACP to move three baseball tournaments out of South Carolina.
The issues was, of course, the Confederate flag on South Carolina's statehouse grounds.
But McConnell was quick to point out that South Carolina is still not alone, writing in part:
Officials at the ACC must not be aware that North Carolina flies a Confederate flag on its dome to commemorate historically significant dates. Other Southern states do even more to celebrate Southern heritage. Mississippi actually has the Confederate battle flag designed into its State flag. Georgia has the national flag of the Confederacy in its State flag. And Alabama flies Confederate flags (including the battle flag) at its Statehouse alongside a Confederate Memorial that is much larger and more prominent than South Carolina’s display.
But, yes, "others do it to" is an old line. What I really liked was McConnell's recounting of the saga that led to getting the flag where it is today.

The citizens of the State of Mississippi have already voted on this issue. The citizens of the State want the flag to stay as it is. Note to NAACP: Butt out!

Yeah, the argument is weak, but the cause is strong -- FLY THE FLAG! NAACP is only using the issue to buttress falling membership numbers and donations.

Is the Confederate Flag the one single issue threatening the NAACP faithful? Is the flag so intimidating, so overpowering, that the Association of Colored folks have seizures, strokes and unable to chew a peanut and jelly sandwich? Does it really deny equal lending in the housing market? Can the Flag actually prevent a well earned job promotion to the members of the Colored People's Association?
Of course the answer is a laughable NO.
As a matter of fact, if the Association of Colored People would stop siding with the KKK and thier interpretation of the flag's meaning, and join with the Sons of Confederate Veterans interpretation - which is the TRUE MEANING - then everyone could take a deep sigh of relief and go on about our lives.
Remember, this whole thing began with the infamous NAACP resolution , calling for the flag's removal from a place of sovriegnty - or else they will boycott. Well, the SC Legislature not only did remove the 3x5 Flag from the Dome and a sovreign place, but the legislature placed a 4x4 Flag in a solemn place - in context - next to a memorial to American Veteran War Dead, and further more built a memorial to blacks on Statehouse grounds.
After all that was done to appease the Colored People's Association, they reneged and instituted thier silly boycott that only really hurts blacks.
Oh, BTW. Mr McConnell -
You forgot that the Virginia State Flag is Confederate (Born circa April 1861) That Maryland's State Flag has 2 Confederate symbols on it, That Florida's State Flag is based on the Cross of St Andrew, Arkansas's State Flag is an inverse Confederate Flag with a special star placed by Former Gov Bill Clinton to specifically recognize Ark's role as a CSA State, Texas State Flag has the Bonnie Blue Flag's white
star on it, Missouri's State Flag has Confederate symbiology in it, and as for Oklahoma, the design is from the Osage Tribe - who were Confederate Soldiers and owned slaves, but the blue is in honor of the Ok. Choctaw Brigade Confederate Battleflag blue, and finally, the template remains the same, just the colors have been changed from the North Carolina Confederate State Flag.
Query -
Do we start another civil war and go after all southern state flags to appease the Association of Colored People, or does the NAACP stop siding with the KKK's interpretation and put the race card away?

@Billy Bearden
The dates on the NC State Flag were also changed after the Civil War, since one of them was the date it seceded.
