The S.C. primary numbers are in: It was great business for Charleston hotels

When the GOP presidential nominee candidates came through the Charleston area, it wasn't just good political theater, it was also plain good business.

More proof of that has been revealed in a report by the College of Charleston’s Office of Tourism Analysis that notes that occupancy at downtown Charleston peninsula hotels jumped 11.7% from last January along with a rate increase up 4.7%.

The Post and Courier has a more narrative look at the numbers (read their report here) and The Charleston Regional Business Journal has a full breakout of numbers from the report (get those here).

But one notable exception to the good news business news is the upscale Charleston Place hotel which is still looking to collect a $227,000 tab from a Republican conference.

There's plenty of great Charleston content out there, but it's ever harder to find -- Charleston's TheDigitel is the only place to get linked to the best Charleston content and events.
