Aging asphalt on I-26 and I-526 lead to cracked windshields (update: fix in, but slow payments)

Update June 1: Resurfacing of 9.5 miles of Interstate 26 between North Charleston and Summerville begins Wednesday in an attempt to eliminate the seriously destructive problem of loose road stones cracking windshields and damages vehicle paint jobs.

Up to this point, the S.C. Department of Transportation had received at least 72 claims of vehicular damage totaling about $80,000 due to the loose stone.

The $4.7 million worth of road work will be done at night, so don't worry about traffic delays.
