Charleston movie theaters and showtimes
The Charleston area has seven movie theaters. You can get a complete list of area showtimes at Google. Most have more or less your standard fare, but we have a few thoughts if you're looking for something in particular ...
- For the most posh theater: We recommend the Palmetto Grande for their posh seats, multiple screens and newest building.
- For the cheapest ticket: Visit Summerville's Cinemark Movies 8 and get $4.75 standard admission and $2.75 during matinees.
- For a movie off the beaten path: Visit the Terrace. You can even get an alcoholic drink there!
- For food: Visit Cinebarre. Click through to their website for their full menu including alcoholic drinks.
Here's the full list of area theaters. Dig through it and find your best match.

Yeah, you're right. Thanks. ... wait, what's this. I hadn't heard about the IMAX.

You know, it is really a shame there isn't a movie theater Downtown on the peninsula. I know tons of students who wish there was one, but of course, none of us have the capitol to start up something like that. I don't see how it wouldn't make money, but maybe I don't anything about business.

Don't forget the Olde North Charleston Picture House on East Montague. We're a nonprofit that shows indies and documentaries every other week; $2 for members, $5 for non-members, and free popcorn for everyone. And we just started a late night cult series, with The Lost Boys next week and The Road Warrior in late June.
See http://parkcirclefilms.org/now-playing for our schedule (June schedule will be up later tonight).

There's also the new Terrace Hippodrome where the old IMAX theatre used to be downtown. They're only showing 1 movie at a time so far, but it will be worth it to those downtown who would like to walk to a movie!

Don't forget the free outdoor movies like Starlight Cinema at Freshfields Village! It's nice to enjoy the outdoors and view a good movie too!
