There is a reason to the utility's tree trimming madness

Ever wonder why it seems like the power company really seems to trim the beauty out of our Lowcountry trees when in years past they did a much more subtle job?

The Charleston City Paper did, too, and Paul Bowers did a little asking of SCE&G and writes that it's not that the utility companies have become lazier, rather the irregular pattern is better for the health of the trees.

That irregular pattern is actually the result of cutting closer to the tree's joints, promoting a better recovery by the tree.

Read the paper's report over here.

There's plenty of great Charleston content out there, but it's ever harder to find -- Charleston's TheDigitel is the only place to get linked to the best Charleston content and events.
