Updates are at the bottom:

Butcher & Bee owner Michael Shemtov is spearheading a project that would turn a vacant lot across from his Upper King Street sandwich shop in to a half-acre urban farm.

With an aerial-view sketch of the farm already drawn up, supportive for city officials and consultations with agriculture and natural-building experts, Shemtov's dream to push Charleston's locavore movement further may soon be a reality.

Update July 12: Last night the city of charleston's Board of Architectural Review approved the plans to put an urban garden across the street from Butcher & Bee. While the team haven't fully committed to the project, approval from the board takes an element of uncertainty out of the planning.

We'll keep you updated as plans progress.
