Prior to the dinner, the South Carolina Aquarium's Sustainable Seafood Coordinator, Megan Westmeyer and Fish Restaurant's Executive Chef Nico Romo will represent the South Atlantic region in the upcoming National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's
(NOAA) 35th Annual Fish Fry in Washington, D.C. on June 9, 2010. This is the premier social event for NOAA bringing together friends and colleagues to showcase American fisheries and seafood during Capitol Hill Ocean Week. Hear more about their travels at dinner and the efforts being made to protect U.S. fisheries.
For dinner on June 18, first, guests can get their feet wet with baked local clams with cilantro gruyere cheese sauce, paired with Domaine de al Pepiere Muscadet, Loire Valley, France 2008. Next, savor a grouper quenelle with Mepkin Abbey oyster mushrooms in a béchamel sauce, paired with Innocent Bystander Pinot Gris, Yarra Valley, Australia, 2008. For the main feature, enjoy a pan-seared red porgy with lentils, summer vegetables and spicy brown butter, paired with Perrin Cotes du Rhone, S. Rhone, France 2007. Lastly, finish with a Nutella marshmallow stuffed French toast with a cookie drough ice cream, paired with King Estate, Vin Glace, Pinot Gris, Oregon, 2005.
Dinner reservations are $50 per person (not including tax and gratuity). Fish will donate 10 percent of the proceeds to the South Carolina Aquarium's Sustainable Seafood Initiative.
