Local Café Supports Non-Profits with Sandwich Campaign
Local artisan bakery and eatery, Rising High Café has debuted a new Hoagies and Heroes campaign benefitting local non-profit organizations.
Each month a local charity will select a spokesperson to build a sandwich on their behalf with a portion of the proceeds from the sandwich sales going back to the organization.
“The Hero Sandwich” ingredients include: Salami, Ham, Turkey, Mozzarella Cheese, Banana Peppers and Spicy Italian Spread served on toasted Italian loaf bread. The sandwich is $8.00 and includes a side item and fountain drink.
Allen has been involved with the American Red Cross for more than 15 years.
“It's a cause that's always been near and dear to me,” said Allen. “When my 12-year-old son Dexter was born premature, he received blood from a donor, which saved his life. I liked the idea of creating a Hero sandwich for this campaign because I believe that if you give blood, you're a hero. You help to save lives."
“As a local business, we feel that it’s important to be a part of the Charleston community,” said Cliff Lowder, owner of Rising High Café. “We’re really excited about this campaign because giving back is an essential part of our philosophy. And, we get to do it by doing what we do best – making great food!”
