King Street's new Asian-style and earth-friendly restaurant (update: closed, for now)
Update February 4, closed: Seems there was a tenant-landlord dustup and W.O.K. is now closed.
A lot of the inner details of the debate aren't know, but there's now an immediate space available at 349 King Street and a restaurant in search of a new home.
On their Facebook page the restaurant wrote on Tuesday, "WOK has agreed to drop the lawsuit, and cut business relations. The GOOD news is that a new, improved WOK is on the way with the same great staff, food, and good times you are accustomed to!"
Update October 19, 2009:
First reporting: We knew that Upper King was getting a trendy Asian food spot but feared it would be just another tired Asian-fusion spot.
But, thankfully, that's not the case: World Oriental Kitchen is an eco-friendly joint that subscribes minimalism and reasonable prices.
W.O.K. will be at 349 King Street in downtown Charleston, replacing Chopsticks Chinese Restaurant. -- They'll be open late Thursday to Saturday.
