The James Beard Award semifinalists were announced yesterday, and per usual, Charleston chefs and restaurants have made a strong showing.

The Best Chef Southeast category has recognized Jeremiah Bacon of The Macintosh, Craig Deihl of Cypress and Ken Vedrinski of Trattoria Lucca.
The Macintosh appears again in the Best New Restaurant category while McCrady's Sean Brock is holding it down as the only Charlestonian in the running for Outstanding Chef.
