MICHAEL MITCHELL GALLERY COLLABORATES WITH ARTISTS TO SUPPORT LOCAL CHARITIES

Michael Mitchell Gallery will host the third annual Art for Charity events May 11th - June 8th to benefit six local non-profits.  This year, over 30 local and regional artists will participate.  The events features weekly cocktail parties that are open to the public, with extended gallery hours.  The goal of these events is to raise awareness and much needed funds for the participating non-profits that include: Friends of MUSC Children's Hospital, Komen Lowcountry, Charleston Waterkeeper, Crisis Ministries, Roper St. Francis Ryan White Program, and MUSC Hollings Cancer Center.  Twelve percent of funds raised through the sale of artwork will be donated to each non-profit.

"We plan to make this years events bigger and better by partnering with new restaurants and providing live entertainment.  Our local artists such as Betty Foy Botts, Susan Colwell, Lisa Shimko, Hirona Matsuda, Tom Potocki and Marissa Vogl always look forward to participating in Art for Charity because it's their way of giving back to these Lowcountry non-profits," says Michael Mitchell, founder of Art for Charity.

“This will be the third year in a row that the Friends of MUSC Children’s Hospital has partnered with Michael Mitchell for the Art for Charity event.  Our members and supporters always look forward to a fun evening with great food from O-ku, sipping wine and enjoying music -  all while enjoying fabulous art and raising money for many worthwhile causes that benefit the Lowcountry,”  says Jennifer Hebra, President of Friends of MUSC Children’s Hospital.

Event restaurant sponsors include: O-Ku, Leaf, Social Wine Bar, Poogan's Porch, Rue de Jean and Halls Chophouse.

All Art for Charity cocktail parties will take place at the Michael Mitchell Gallery located at 438 King Street. Events start at 6:00pm and a $10 suggested donation include appetizers, wine and live entertainment.
