Old Village Post House to host a Belgium beer dinner
South Carolina’s Lowcountry meets Europe’s Lowcountry at a Belgium Beer Dinner at the Old Village Post House on Wednesday, September 29th.
Wine and Beverage Director Patrick Emerson has paired four Affligem Brewery high gravity Belgian beers with a tasty four-course menu created by Executive Chef Frank Lee and Chef de Cuisine Jim Walker.
Affligem Brewery is an abbey brewery in Opwijk, Belgium that has been brewing traditional Flemish beers for over 900 years. While no longer produced by Trappist monks, Affligem beers are popular throughout the world because of their authentic production and similarity to traditional monk-made beers.
From the Lowcountry Croque Monsieur to the Seafood Extravaganza, Chef Lee and Chef Walker have melded Lowcountry flavors to compliment these Old World beers.
The full menu is available online.
Guests should be ready to raise their chalices, the traditional vessel for Affligem beer, at 6:30pm. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (843) 388-8935. The dinner is $58 per person plus tax and gratuity.
The Old Village Post House is located at 101 Pitt Street at Venning, in the heart of Mt. Pleasant’s historic village. It is a property of Maverick Southern Kitchens, owners of Slightly North of Broad (Charleston), High Cotton (Charleston and Greenville) and Charleston Cooks! (Charleston).
