"Diverse Chorus" by JRF

Kevin E Taylor returns to Charleston with his 'Diverse Chorus'

SCOOP Studios welcomes Kevin E. Taylor as a guest curator for the show entitled, “Diverse Chorus.” The opening reception will be held on Friday, June 4th, from 6 to 9 p.m., and the exhibition will be up through June 30th.

A Charleston native, Taylor eventually migrated to San Francisco to further pursue his art career. Over the years, he has gathered a collection of talented acquaintances and occasionally finds himself given the opportunity to introduce their creative voices to unfamiliar audiences. The “Diverse Chorus” was first assembled in 2008 at Neurotitan in Berlin, Germany when Kevin was asked to curate an exhibition in the historical gallery. SCOOP is excited to host the first US presentation of this ever expanding collective featuring 28 American artists. The medians between the participating artists are diverse and offer a variety of styles and processes.

Many of the artists and their pieces will be introduced to Charleston offering fresh faces and never seen before artwork. The roster for this incredible gathering includes Adam Friedman, Alexis Mackenzie, Mr. Ben Venom, Brett Amory, Chris Crites, Claire Droney, Danielle de Picciotto, Ian Johnson, Jon Casey Clary, JRF, Justin van Hoy, Justin Waugh, Kevin E. Taylor, Kevin Scott Hailey, Lafe Eaves, Mark Warren Jacques, Marty Cacic, Michael Hsiung, Mike Maxwell, Olivia Song Park, Ryan Hendon, Ryan Shaffer, Ryan Travis Christian, Scott Greenwalt, Steve MacDonald, Steve Pomberg, Tara Foley, and Tim Cohen.

Taylor explains:

"DIVERSE CHORUS is a presentation of artists with whose work I’ve grown fondly acquainted. Each, finding a potent voice through a unique medium, there remains intact a common atmosphere within the collection. The “chorus” reveals the vastness of manifesting a vision. “Diversity” is inherent, given the uniqueness attained through these artists exploration of an ingenious form. My intent is to expose this cast unto a new audience. I am honored to have the opportunity to provide you a window; making visible the interesting practices artists are enlisting to mold thoughts into artifacts that will be observed, pondered, absorbed, and learned from."

SCOOP studios is located at 57 1/2 Broad Street in downtown Charleston. The artists’ reception is free and open to the public.
