Bank heist getaway foiled by tracking-tech

Mark Tirico was picked up by police a short while after he allegedly robbed a downtown Bank of America. The quick bust was thanks largely to the bank having inserted a "mystery" tracking device into the stolen cash.

The paper stops short of saying what technology was used to foil the robbery, but it seems reasonable to assume it was some sort of GPS device. With the recent generation of the device being super-small and easily hid amongst a thick wad of cash, I had wondered why they weren't used more often in bank robberies.
