Budget cuts rippling through all aspects of campus life

South Carolina college students may begin to feel the effects of statewide budget cuts that, at around 9% total, are having an impact on all aspects of campus life.

Tuition increases, larger class sizes, fewer class offerings and faculty cuts are major factors that students, staff and administration will have to struggle through.

Cathy Sams, chief public affairs officer at Clemson University had this to say on the topic:

"...these budget cuts also are counter-productive to the state's economic recovery. The one reliable place to invest if you want to increase personal wealth and create jobs is higher education, especially research universities."

The year is young, so we'll hold tight and see how this all pans out.

There's plenty of great Charleston content out there, but it's ever harder to find -- Charleston's TheDigitel is the only place to get linked to the best Charleston content and events.
