Unusual veto situation causes immediate shutdown of Arts Commission, Sea Grant Consortium

Update: Funding has been reestablished.
The South Carolina Arts Commission and the South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium have both closed effective today until the agencies learn more about the impact of the budget elimination during the new fiscal year that began on July 1.
Governor Haley's vetoes have eliminated funding and therefore all expending of funds, including payment to staff — under normal budget situations, the Legislature would vote on the vetoes before the funding would be removed from organizations.
Both groups are asking that you contact your S.C. House and Senate members ask them to override Vetoes #1 and #21 when they return to the Statehouse on July 17 and 18. The House must override the vetoes by a 2/3 super majority before the Senate can take up the votes.
