Former U.S. Air Force chief of staff to speak at College of Charleston

General T. Michael Moseley, 18th Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force, will speak at the College of Charleston about "the global strategic landscape and the challenges facing the world community as the 21st Century begins."

Moseley Moseley It's free and at the Admissions Information Center of the Robert Scott Small Building. Wednesday, January 14, at 6 p.m.

General Moseley will also discuss the impacts of unprecedented change in technology and the exponential growth in access to information across a wide range of economic, cultural and military activities. While focusing on the security requirements attendant with these uncertainties, these challenges also offer a wide range of emerging opportunities for the US to engage and "partner" with the key actors across the world stage; Japan, China, South East Asia, the Middle East, India, the EU, Central and South America.

A native of Grand Prairie, TX, General Moseley graduated from Texas A&M University with both a B.A. and an M.A in Political Science. General Moseley commanded the 9th Air Force and U.S. Central Command Air Forces while serving as Combined Forces Air Component Commander for Operations Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. The General is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has been awarded the Order of National Merit (Officer) and the Order of National Merit (Commander) by the president of the French Republic. The Order of National Merit is the second highest French military award. He has also been awarded the United Arab Emirates' Military Medal, 1st Class, by the president of the U.A.E.

The Friends of the Library at the College of Charleston supports and advances the interests of the Marlene and Nathan Addlestone Library as the leading intellectual and cultural force in the community.

Moseley retired in August of 2008.
