Children's Museum of the Lowcountry celebrates 9th birthday
The Children's Museum of the Lowcountry turns 9 years old this Friday, September 21st!
Since opening in 2003, CML has reached more than 865,000 children and their families by sparking imagination, stimulating curiosity and encouraging problem solving through the power of play. Nestled in the heart of downtown Charleston in a restored train depot located at 25 Ann Street, CML has engaged Lowcountry children with 9 hands-on interactive exhibits. Kids can make it rain indoors, climb aboard a Lowcountry pirate ship and drive an antique fire truck. Families can race golf balls down a roller coaster, find gems under an outdoor waterfall and create inspired masterpieces every day in the dedicated art center.
Through sponsorships, grants and donations, CML has enriched the lives of underserved children throughout the Lowcountry by providing scholarships for Field Trips to Title One Schools - more than 1,000 students are reached annually. The Museum also provides a safe, fun place for children with special needs and their families through a free program called SuperStars. The Museum opens early on the second Sunday of the month from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. so that children can explore the exhibits at their own pace without crowds and over-stimulation; more than 1,200 children with specials needs are able to enjoy the Museum annually.
To celebrate its 9th Birthday, CML is hosting a Member's Birthday Bash! Museum Members will enjoy a delicious Hubee D's dinner, cake from Ashley Bakery, visits from Princess of Tides princesses, fishing time on the DNR fishing simulator, face painting by Wando High School art students and crafts with Macaroni Kids and Bellies, Babies & Beyond. Join the Museum in celebrating its 9th Birthday and help us continue our mission of sparking imagination, stimulating curiosity and encouraging problem solving through the power of play!
