Tri-county residents score free harbor, carriage tours this Sunday

Charleston Harbor Tours and Palmetto Carriage Works are teaming up this Sunday to offer a special treat to Tri-County residents: free combo tours.

This is their way of saying "thank you" to local residents. All you have to do to snag a seat is present a photo ID with a local address. Children must be accompanied by an adult, however, you're allowed to have up to 3 kids per adult.

The Charleston Restaurant Association will be hosting the 29th annual and ever-popular Lowcountry Oyster Festival on Sunday, January 29th.

Located on the 700+ acre grounds of historic Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, the Lowcountry Oyster Festival is the world’s largest oyster festival and has been named one of the “top 20 events in the southeast” by the Southeastern Tourism Society. More than 10,000 guests and 80,000 pounds of oysters are expected throughout the day on the back lawn of the plantation.

Democratic primary elections hit Charleston Saturday

South Carolina Democrats will hold their primary elections on Saturday, January 28th, as they reorganize their precincts.

While President Barack Obama has no Democrat challenger, there are still plenty of meetings that will take place. And Charlestons Democrats can place their vote for Obama along with party precinct officers.

Meetings will take place at the following locations on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until noon. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

An inside source has leaked information to The Post and Courier that College of Charleston men's basketball coach, Bobby Cremins, will be taking a leave of absence starting today for non-life threatening health reasons.

On Monday, February 13th, Darius Rucker is going to set down his cowboy hat and don a tuxedo in order to take on the songs of Old Blue Eyes for the Big Band Sound of Darius Rucker show.

The show starts at 8 p.m. at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center, and proceeds will go on to benefit MUSC Children's Hospital Fund. Ticket prices range from $50 to $250, so jump online and purchase your ticket now before they sell out.
